Gear

The club provides most of the gear you will need to shoot. Below is a list of some of the items you will be using. Keep in mind, some equipment is specialized for certain positions, and different age groups will shoot in these different positions. Also, some gear is generally set aside for our senior/veteran shooters.

Age Groups

Junior: 3rd-5th grade ...........................................Prone position

Junior Intermediate: 6th-7th grade..........Prone and Kneeling positions

Intermediate: 8th-9th grade..........................Prone, Kneeling, and Standing positions

Senior: 10th-12th grade......................................Prone, Kneeling, and Standing positions

  • Mat: Used in the Prone position to lay on. Sits just behind firing line.

  • Kneeling roll: Used in Prone position for resting barrel of rifle on, and Kneeling position under the right ankle for support.

  • Glove: Used on left hand to support rifle and protect hand from pressure from sling and rifle in Prone and Kneeling positions.

  • Sling: Used to support rifle in Prone and Kneeling positions. Is wrapped around left upper-arm and attached underneath the forearm of the rifle, with the left hand sitting between the sling and the rifle.

  • Jacket: Worn in all positions. Made of heavy canvas to restrict movement.

  • Pants: Worn in Standing position to restrict movement.

  • Boots: Worn in the Kneeling and Standing position to restrict movement.

  • Off-hand stand: Used in Kneeling and Standing positions to rest the rifle on in between shots, and hold ammo.

  • Spotting Scope: Used by senior/veteran shooters to spot their own shots downrange.
