What is

dry-firing?

Dry-firing is when the chamber is empty, you close the bolt, and pull the trigger. This is done during 3 minute prep but can be done at any point during the course of fire.

What does OBI stand for?

What is your Natural Point of Aim?

Your natural point of aim (NPA) is where your body is naturally aiming the rifle. You should check your NPA regularly during the course of fire.

What kind of Rifle do we shoot?

We shoot single-shot, bolt-action, 22 caliber smallbore rifles.

What kind of sights do we use?

We use peep sights. The rear sight sits directly in front of the shooter just behind the bolt, and the front sight sits on the end of the barrel.

What do the four H's in 4-H stand for?

Head, Heart, Hands, and  Health.

What is the  4-H pledge?

I pledge my head to clearer thinking, my heart to greater loyalty, my hands to larger service, and my health to better living for my club, my community, my country, and my world.

How many Safety Meetings must you attend in order to shoot?

New shooters must attend 2 safety trainings in order to shoot which are held at our club meetings in October and November. Veteran shooters (shooters that shot last year) only have to attend one of these.

What is the sighter box for?

The sighter box is a box in the center of every target card with two bulls in it. These are for practice shots before you shoot at the other bulls on the card. The bulls in the sighter do not count for score.

What kind of bullets do we shoot?

We shoot standard velocity, 22 long rifle, lead round nose bullets.

What is the

What does everyone have to wear at the range?

Eyes and ears!

Or, safety glasses and ear plugs.

Anyone.
